There is something always reassuring in reading stats. Basically, knowing that new technology is becoming more and more a trend and not a pure “One-hit wonder,” can be fundamental when people decide how much to invest in it for their business, in terms of effort and budget.
Here’s a list of the most exciting stats about AR technology that will prove to you how much this technology will change the way we think about marketing and much more.
Based on the eMarketers 2020 report, 83.1 million users will use AR at least once per month in 2020 in the US, with an expected rate of 95.1 million users in 2022, in the US only.
Based on the Global Web Index survey, in addition to the 35% of AR users aged 16 to 34, another 35% are in the 25–34 age group, meaning that brands need to focus their marketing strategies on Millennials and Gen Z.
According to Gartner, 100 million consumers will buy products in AR online, and In-Store. AR also has «the potential to shake up the customer experience by individualizing retailers’ offers and enabling customers to visualize products in different settings.»
As BusinessWire reports, the AR market will have a value of over 60 billion dollars in 2023, and «the major drivers for the AR market are the rising investment in the AR market and increasing demand from different sectors.»
Based on the 2019 mid-market technology trends report by Deloitte, 88% of mid-level businesses and organizations are already using AR in their communication strategies.
According to Vibrant Media, 67% of media planners are looking for incorporating more AR ads into their campaigns, to enhance user experience while interacting with brands on social media and in real life. 49% of executives expect the interactivity of AR ads will help counter ad-blocking.
Better smartphone technology and 5G are poised to improve AR experiences and create a broader potential market for cloud-based streaming applications, always according to the eMarketers 2020 report.
As Deloitte reports, among companies using AR, 42% are using virtual demos to improve employee and customer interactions with company products and services. 40% are using AR to train customers in the use of the products, and 38% are using it for customers to engage with their brands.
As these stats prove, the AR market has a bright future, and it looks like more and more companies — even small and mid-level ones — are going to adopt this technology even more in the next five years to improve their marketing strategies. The real question is, how is the marketing game going to change thanks to augmented reality?
